What are Guiding Principles
Guiding principles are the basis of an organization that instructs the organization in different circumstances. Even if a change to strategies or management of the organization happens, they are yet applicable. These principles are fit to the organization and they can be integrated with other methodologies. They are also usable in relationships between different stakeholders. Seven principles are available. Actually they are seven commandments of ITIL 4.
(1) Focus on value, (2) Start where you are, (3) Progress iteratively with feedback, (4) Collaborate and promote visibility, (5) Think and work holistically, (6) Keep it simple and practical, (7) Optimize and automate.
Principles are related to each other. It’s not efficient to use just one or two of them. They should be reviewed and the principles that are proper and fit for purpose, be used in an organization with maintaining the relationship between them. Principles can be tailored to be adapted to the organization.
